Supercharge Shovel Productivity
Hot rodders know that bolting on a super charger takes several seconds off their quarter-mile times and increases their top speeds. P&H Centurion Digital Drive and Control System upgrades can supercharge your analog shovel, taking several seconds off each dig cycle and increasing your units moved per hour.
Centurion accomplishes this with extended speed ranges in the Hoist and Crowd motions. This means that the motions still have the low speed torque as in the past but now have higher speeds in each direction. Hoist speeds are most dramatically increased while maintaining high levels of bail pull through the bank. Crowd speeds are increased as well and are now matched to the Hoist throughout the dig cycle. the operator no longer must wait for the Crowd to "catch-up" to the Hoist. This means the operator can get through the bank, position over the truck, and return to the tuck position faster than ever.
Propel transfer times with Centurion have been reduced to the three second range. Included with the Propel transfer are the brake set-and-release verification and drive system verification before the transfer is complete. Centurion makes the transfer quick to increase shovel mobility and safer to avoid damage to equipment.
Reliability
The gains in performance do not come at a cost to reliability. Conversely, Centurion offers greater reliability than other drive and control systems. Centurion is based on the most popular drive system used on mining excavators today.
Motors, transmissions and structures are not adversely affected by the additional speeds from Centurion as the limits are well within their design constraints. It is the accuracy of the control and responsiveness of the system that allows Centurion to increase the operating envelope of the motions.
Diagnostics
When there are problems, Centurion has the ability to get into the details. Maintenance crews and technicians can drill to deep levels of access in the drives and controller...from the on-board touch screen computer.
Installation
Designers have fit the Centurion system into a convenient drop-in replacement cabinet that fits into the same location as the existing analog control cabinet. This makes installation, wiring and comissioning quick and easy.
Motor Upgrades
The Centurion Digital Drive and Control system upgrade provides big gains in performance but choosing larger Hoist motors as an option adds more potential for improved productivity. P&H can supply 1690 and 19880 hoist motors that have more horsepower, torque and thremal margin than their predecessors. This adds up to more bail speed, bail pull and material moved.
Standard Features
Standard features of the Centurion include the digital drives, controller, touch screen computers (2) and Smart I/O. With the digital drive control also comes digital Reactive Power Compensation (RPC) control. The digital RPC control has optional features that alternate RPC firing sequences to extend the life of the RPC components.
Only a P&H Centurion digital drive and control package can supercharge your shovel's capabilities for maximum increases in productivity. Over 75 P&H shovels are operating with P&H digital drive upgrades. P&H Centurion Digital Drive and Control systems are available for air-cooled 2300XPA, 2800XPA, 2800XPB and 4100-class shovels.
