Our Communities

P&H offices, service centers and warehouses are located in hundreds of communities around the world. Because we believe that strong neighborhoods, towns, and cities are vital to the well-being of our society and to the economy, we acknowledge that we have both a special responsibility and role to play in helping our communities thrive. We also participate in health care initiatives to help save lives and create stability in local communities.

On site blood drivesAt our headquarters in Milwaukee, P&H has a long-standing and extensive volunteer program for our employees to participate in. Over the years P&H employees and retirees have assisted seniors with household projects, fed holiday meals to those in need and donated thousands of pints of blood through our on-site blood drives.

P&H has also conducted an annual United Way campaign for decades. All employees are encouraged to donate and the generous Joy Global Foundation matches employee contributions dollar for dollar.

A new community initiative that our employees are especially excited about is “Project Lead the Way”, which is a national educational initiative, providing students a solid grounding in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. Volunteer projects related to our Project Lead the Way sponsorship of a local school have already begun and many more exciting opportunities are on the horizon.

An established annual scholarship program with selected mining schools is another way P&H gives back to the community. Together with our sister company, Joy Mining Machinery, we are happy to help promote the study of mining engineering and to help educate future mining engineers. P&H does not directly accept requests for scholarships and requires the universities to administer these awards.

Corn mill and brick-making machineAround the world, our regional offices also participate in volunteer opportunities and sponsorships. In Fort McMurray, our team members helped sponsor a newborn facility and in Africa our team donated a water truck to a desert community in Mauritania and a corn mill and brick-making machine to the community of Chingola, Zambia.

Being a strong part of the community is part of our culture at P&H and we encourage all our employees to find ways to help in their own communities.
